Afghan Women’s Craft Collective

The Afghan Women's Craft Collective is cultivating community in Asheville, NC among women who fled Afghanistan in 2021, empowering them with new skills while honoring their cultural heritage and paving a way for them to earn income. Their handcrafted pieces are made at home.

After the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, Afghan refugees began resettling in the USA and around the world. Sisters in Circles hosts gatherings where women build friendships and cultivate community, share food, chai (tea) and laughter. They were provided beads, jewelry making supplies, inspiration and instruction, all which invite them to express their creativity and design their own beautiful pieces.

To protect the identity and preserve the safety of these women, we do not use photos of their faces or share their personal information.
